Mike Fairclough Massage: a website built around how Mike works.
What began as a conversation about AI became a closer look at how people find Mike, decide whether he's right for them and arrange an appointment. The useful work was a clearer website and a booking option tested around the way he runs his business.
Visit Mike's website
The business had moved on. The website needed to catch up.
I'd previously built Mike's website and helped with his Google Business Profile. People were finding him through Google, but the older site no longer showed the full range of work he did or explained the business as clearly as it could.
When I spoke to him again, I asked about his services, the questions clients bring and what happens between an enquiry and an appointment. That brought the booking process into view too.
Look at the whole journey before picking a tool.
Bookings were arriving through different places, and keeping the diary clear took too much attention. Mike wanted more consistency and more control over his time. I talked through the options, demonstrated a booking setup with him and listened to concerns about details such as the booking policy. Those details mattered because he had to feel comfortable using the system.
AI was part of the original conversation. It wasn't the first thing this business needed.
Build around the services people actually come for.
I rebuilt the site around Mike's current work, experience, prices and studio. Someone landing from search can now see what he offers, who it helps and how to get in touch. The pages and words are grounded in conversations with Mike, not a generic template for therapists.
In Mike's words
Mike wrote this after my earlier website and Google Business Profile work. The recent rebuild and booking work came later.
“I love working with Cris as firstly he’s a great guy, and secondly he always has an honest and thoughtful answer/solution to your problems… he is very proactive and goes above and beyond to get the job done.
I’ve benefited greatly from Google searches since working with Cris and people have complimented my website too.
I’d definitely recommend Cris to all my friends and family as his work is very high level, he’s clearly competent in all areas of his work and he is able to work with people’s ideas and implement them accordingly.”
Where the work stands
The rebuilt website is live. Booking is the next step.
- Website
- Live
- Booking setup
- Tested, awaiting rollout
The site now describes Mike's services more clearly, shows prices and gives visitors a direct way to contact him. The booking setup has been tested with him, but it was still being prepared for launch in September 2026. I don't have a measured booking or sales result to attribute to that part of the work yet.
This story shows why I don't assume the first tool mentioned is the one to build. The questions about the business changed the work.
