Who WordPress SEO help is for: Does one of these sound like your site?

If it does, WordPress usually isn't the problem. It's what's on your pages, and which fixes get done first.

A local business site that never brings in enquiries
It was built a while ago, it looks fine, and Google barely sends anyone. You're not sure if the problem is the site, the content or something you can't see.
A WooCommerce shop that has gone flat
Traffic or sales have stalled or started dropping, and nobody can tell you which pages to work on first.
A developer or agency, but nobody owning SEO
Your site is built and maintained. What's missing is someone deciding what search work matters and in what order.
Rankings dropped after a redesign
You rebuilt or redesigned the site, and the enquiries that used to come from Google stopped.

How I approach WordPress SEO: Most WordPress SEO advice stops at plugins and speed.

Those things matter, but they're rarely why a site isn't bringing in work. This is where I spend my time instead, as part of my wider strategic SEO consulting.

  1. 01

    Pages that sell

I fix thin service and product pages so they match how your customers search and how they decide to buy. That's usually where the enquiries are being lost.

  2. 02

    What to fix first

An audit tool will hand you hundreds of warnings. I cut through them and put the few things that actually move enquiries or sales at the top.

  3. 03

    Someone owning the strategy

I act as your SEO lead and work alongside your developer or in-house team. I can handle some of the technical work myself, and when a job needs proper development I'll bring in one of my web developer contacts.

Common WordPress SEO problems: What I usually find on WordPress sites.

Thin service pages
One generic Services page doing the job of five, so none of them ranks for what people actually search.
Page builder bloat
Elementor and Divi are fine when they are used well. Too often the layout looks good and the page says very little.
No tracking
No Search Console or analytics set up, so nobody knows what's working or what changed.
Lost after a redesign
URLs changed, redirects missed, and rankings the old site had earned quietly disappeared.

WordPress SEO case study: EMD UK. Organic search became the number one source of conversions.

I led SEO in-house at EMD UK, whose site runs on WordPress. I built focused pages for searches the site wasn't answering, refreshed older content and made the route to membership clearer. For the first time in its history, organic search became EMD UK's top source of conversions.

Staying on WordPress or moving platform: I won't push you off WordPress.

For new, lighter sites I now build in Astro, and if a rebuild would genuinely help I'll say so and point you to my SEO-led website builds.

But WordPress is still a great CMS. It's the one I know best: in-house, on client sites for a UK agency and on my own affiliate sites. If yours does the job, we make it work harder where it is.

How WordPress SEO consulting starts: a free 20-minute call

No long-term contracts, and you deal with me directly.

  1. 01

    Free 20-minute call

Tell me what's going on with your site. I'll give you some initial advice there and then and get a feel for your situation.

  2. 02

    A short written report

After the call I send you a brief report. It's useful on its own, and it shows you how I think before you spend anything.

  3. 03

    Then the work that fits

A one-off audit or jump start to get the foundations right, or monthly support if you don't have people in-house to carry the work out. The scope and price are agreed first.

WordPress SEO consultant FAQs

Is WordPress good for SEO?

Yes. WordPress is still a great CMS and it's the one I've worked on most. When a WordPress site struggles in search, it's usually the pages, the structure or the lack of a plan, not the platform.

Which SEO plugin is best for WordPress?

Yoast and Rank Math are both fine. The plugin matters far less than what's actually on your pages. Green lights in a plugin don't mean a page will rank or bring in enquiries.

Does a WordPress SEO consultant make the changes, or just advise?

I do both. I focus on page content and edits and can do some build work myself. If a job is heavily technical, I bring in one of my web developer contacts rather than guess.

Can a WordPress SEO consultant work with my web developer or agency?

Yes. I can sit alongside the people who already look after your site, set the SEO priorities and brief the changes.

Can I hire you just for a WordPress SEO strategy?

Yes, if you have people in-house who can carry out the work. If you don't, ongoing support usually makes more sense.

Should I move my website off WordPress for better SEO?

Not necessarily. For new, lighter sites I now build in Astro, and I'll tell you if a rebuild would genuinely help. If your WordPress site does the job, we improve it where it is.

Tell me what your WordPress site is doing now.

You don't need a diagnosis. Just tell me what's changed or what you'd like it to do better, and you'll get some straight advice on the call.
